The Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum opened during our nations bicentenniel in 1976 as a way to preserve railroad history. The museum has a widely varied collection of railroad locomotives, coaches, freight cars, equipment and structures. The museum focuses on the Nickel Plate Road and it's successors but has many other unique pieces such as the CB&Q Silver Dome no.4714 (the first dome car built in the United States). The museum is comprised of static exhibits and many pieces, espeically the passenger equipment have in teriors that are open for inspection. There are opportunities to train watch as there are several tracks nearby.
